Magic Johnson

Written by Austin Kent

Easily one of the most popular basketball players in NBA history, Magic Johnson suited up for arguably the greatest basketball team of all-time, the 1992 American Dream Team. Along with a handful of other professional superstars, Johnson helped Team USA steamroll through its competition en route to its first of three extremely overwhelming Olympic golds, but his success is far from limited to strictly international competition.

Johnson, one of the NBA's 50 Greatest Players, was named MVP of the NBA three times in 1987, 1989, and 1990 and played a major role in helping his Los Angeles Lakers land five NBA championships between 1980 and 1988. Since his original retirement from the professional game in 1991, Magic has written books, purchased a stake in the Lakers, as well as coach the Lakers, opened a series of movie theatres and hosted his own television talk show.

Currently, Johnson is working to produce a movie about the life of autistic basketball manager Jason McElwain.
